The School of English wishes to appoint a full-time short-term lecturer in Early Modern Studies in order to provide teaching and scholarship support. The successful candidate will make an outstanding contribution to teaching and scholarship in the field of early modern studies and assume all appropriate responsibilities.
The successful candidate will have a first degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area and a PhD in a relevant discipline. You will possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established teaching programmes, excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills and the ability to teach Early Modern Literature.The ability to develop familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning, and to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn is essential. The successful candidate will also demonstrate evidence of current research activity in the field of Early Modern Literature.

The School of English
The School of English currently has c. 900 full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate students. Its permanent academic staff of 37 includes an excellent cohort of highly promising and productive early career researchers alongside senior staff with international reputations. English at Kent is based on a commitment to the traditional fields of the discipline, to consolidating the School’s distinctive strengths, and to innovation. Key areas of research such as medieval literature, American literature, postcolonial studies and modern poetry have been strengthened by recent appointments.
