Fixed-term (10 months) Lecturer in Medieval Literature

The Department wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Medieval Literature. Applicants should be specialists in English literature before 1300 with an interest in Old or Middle English. Preference may be shown to those that have interests in visual and material culture, and candidates will be expected to be able to teach Old English at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The post holder will expected to teach on the following courses:

  • 4AAEA003 Reading Poetry
  •  4AAE0209 Medieval Literary Cultures
  • 5AAEB005 Cultural Encounters
  • 5AAEB061 London Literature 1380-1450
  • 6AAEC083 Medievalism: From Gothic to Toda
  •  6AAEC039 Beowulf

Details

S/he will take a full role in assessing students, and also undertake dissertation supervision and personal tutoring for undergraduate and postgraduate students. S/he is expected to be actively involved in research, and to contribute to the research activities of the Department; and to participate in the organization of teaching and learning in the department.

The post will be based at the Virginia Woolf Building, King’s Strand Campus.
