If literature offers a mirror to society, what kinds of mirrors were available to the Scottish people in the 15th century? Dr Nicola Royan considers the function of literature in defining Scottishness with performances of extracts by James I and English contemporaries such as Chaucer and others.

Dr Nicola Royan is lecturer in late medieval and early Renaissance literature at the University of Nottingham. She has published widely on Scottish literature 1375-1585 and she is President of the Scottish Text Society.

Actors Blythe Duff and Gordon Kennedy from The James Plays Company will be performing extracts.
