3 Lectureships in English Literature – School of English, Communication and Philosophy, Cardiff University

The School of English, Communication and Philosophy at Cardiff University is seeking to appoint three Lecturers (Grade 7, Teaching and Research) in the English Literature subject area of the School. We are seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Shakespeare and his contemporaries; Film and Literature; Modern and Contemporary Literature (American or British); Gender Studies.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the full range of research, teaching, impact and engagement activities of this dynamic unit.

The successful applicant will have a growing national/international academic reputation, an excellent record of high-quality publications and teaching, and the enthusiasm and drive to play a key role in enhancing the School’s reputation for impactful research and community engagement. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, English Language and Literature at Cardiff was ranked in the top ten for the quality of its research.

The new colleague will contribute to teaching provision across the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in English Literature within one or more of the fields identified above. An ability and willingness to teach in other areas of literature and/or creative writing would be an advantage. The successful candidate will bring an engaging and innovative approach to module delivery and assessment, and, with a commitment to delivering excellent student experience, will contribute to the enhancement of distinctive module provision at Cardiff.

The post holder will engage effectively with academic, professional and public institutions and groups to raise awareness of the School’s profile, cultivate strategic alliances, and enhance the School’s name as a creative, inclusive community renowned for its impact on policy, practice and public life.

3 Full Time posts (35 hours per week)
