In association with King’s College London, The Dolphin’s Back, a theatre company specialising in resurrecting forgotten early modern plays, are bringing The Misfortunes of Arthur back to Gray’s Inn, its original place of staging. Written by Gray’s Inn member Thomas Hughes, Misfortunes has not been performed since 1587. Expect to encounter Arthurian legend, but not as you know it. Instead, a divided kingdom reflects today’s divisive politics as unwise rulers bring conflict and chaos to Britain. The performance will start at 7.30 pm and is expected to run for 90 minutes with no interval. Seating is unreserved.
We would like to thank the London Shakespeare Centre, King’s College London, King’s English Department, the Centre for Early Modern Studies and the Society for Renaissance Studies for their generous support of this production.
